Jennifer Mawby is an artist living and working in Vancouver, BC. Through a multi-disciplinary practice the artist engages the forms and concerns of painting, photography, sculpture, film, cinema, theatre, and soundtrack music.
She creates phenomenological installations that are both gestural character studies and allegorical still life about the relationship of storytelling to inner dialogue, backstories, and non-verbal communication. In her participatory public works like “Give and Take” the tacit involvement of the viewer is required to transform the initial installation and bring the work to completion, upon which the results are photo-documented and distributed in an ongoing publication.
She received her BA Classical Studies from the University of British Columbia, studied Technology at SFU, and Fine Art at Emily Carr University (in Vancouver). She is currently an MA Fine Art Candidate from OCA/University of the Creative Arts in the UK. Jennifer’s work has been published and shown in Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, Toronto, and Washington DC.
